If you've searched for a boiler service in Glasgow you'll have noticed most companies won't tell you the price until they've got your phone number. We think that's daft. A boiler service with Titan Heat costs £89, fixed, anywhere in Glasgow or Lanarkshire. No call-out fee on top, no "from" price, no surprise on the day.
This guide explains what you're paying for, what a proper service should include, how our price compares with the big names, and when a service is and isn't worth it.

What's actually included in a £89 service
A service isn't a quick look and a sticker. A Gas Safe registered engineer should spend 45 minutes to an hour on a combi boiler and carry out, as a minimum:
- A visual inspection of the boiler, flue and pipework for corrosion, leaks and damage
- A check of the flue terminal position and that the flue is sealed and secure
- Gas pressure and gas rate test at the appliance
- A flue gas analysis using a calibrated analyser, checking the combustion is clean and safe
- Inspection and cleaning of the burner, heat exchanger, injectors and ignition components where the manufacturer requires it
- A check of the condensate trap and pipe (the number one cause of winter breakdowns in Scotland — see our boiler not working guide)
- Expansion vessel pressure check and re-charge if needed
- Safety device checks: pressure relief valve, flame supervision, overheat thermostat
- System pressure check and top-up
- Checks on the boiler's electrical connections and controls
- A written service record, which you'll need for your warranty
If an engineer is in and out in fifteen minutes, they haven't done this.
Why the price matters less than you think
Here's the bit most people don't know: almost every manufacturer's warranty requires an annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi and Viessmann all state it in the warranty terms. Miss a year and the manufacturer can refuse a repair that would otherwise have been free. On a boiler with a ten-year warranty, a £89 service is protecting a part that might cost £500 to replace.
The other reason is efficiency. A boiler that's had its heat exchanger cleaned and its combustion set correctly uses less gas. On a typical three-bed home in Lanarkshire using around 12,000 kWh of gas a year, even a 3–5% efficiency loss is worth £30–£50 a year at current prices. The service more or less pays for itself.
When should you have it done?
Any time is fine, but late summer and early autumn is ideal. You find problems before the heating season starts, and engineers aren't fighting through breakdown callouts. If your boiler's last service was more than twelve months ago, book now rather than waiting for a cold snap — every engineer in Glasgow is busy the week the temperature drops below zero.
Landlords have no choice: a gas safety check is required every twelve months by law. A service isn't legally the same thing as a gas safety check (a CP12 covers safety, not cleaning and adjustment), but it makes sense to do both on one visit. See our landlord gas safety guide for Scotland.
Is a boiler cover plan better value than paying for a service?
Not usually, unless your boiler is old and out of warranty. A basic boiler-and-controls plan from a national provider runs about £24–£28 a month, or roughly £290–£340 a year, and includes an annual service. If you pay for a £89 service and have one repair at our £85 fixed call-out plus parts, you're still likely to be under the cost of the plan.
